New Ramen Ten outlet

Newly open Ramen Ten at Century Square with its snazzy ambience and chic, red, modern look.

Its a must go. Very attention grabbing place at former Long John Silvers Spot.

I had a sweet, tantalizing teriyaki chicken ramen (dry noodles and not spicy) topped with kiwi soda (green color drink) and my colleague had a spicy, aromatic salmon udon (soup noodles and slightly spicy) accompanied by a chocolate frizz drink (brown color drink). Sluuuurrrrrp...!

Might as well watch it with people who'd enjoy it right...

ENCHANTED

SYPNOSIS: A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess (AMY ADAMS) from the past who is thrust into present-day by an evil queen (SUSAN SARANDON). Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer (PATRICK DEMPSEY). Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Who wants to watch this on Wednesday or Friday? 7pm? Let me know...

After 29 weeks of nausea, headaches and unbelievable "cubaan", now I'm finally round shape and more stable. I'm still ignoring the turbulence that occurs ever so often in that tummy of mine.
To all mothers-to-be, hang in there...
Speaking to my mum last night on mine and my sibling's birth details really placed giving birth in a different light. Most of my friends take several hours to give birth but my amazing mum only took minutes!
She mentioned she cannot wait to give birth. Once she feel the pain jer, terus beranak. This applies to all her children; ie my siblings.
She re-enact her first birth of my elder brother. She was waiting on the sofa at entrance of our former kampong house (macam extra living room tapi kat luar rumah) for my aruah grandmother to take her selendang, tali pinggang, bag etc to accompany my mom to hospital. She said she rasa sakit, then keluar lah my brother in a matter of minutes. How amazing is that?
Hopefully I will have it as easy as her.

Lenggang perut ceremony
[lenggang –swaying gently from side to side; perut – stomach]

An old ritual that has more or less been abandoned by the Malays in Singapore, this pre-natal ceremony is still practised in some villages in Malaysia. The ritual takes place when the lady has completed her 7th month of pregnancy. It is an elaborate ceremony which is believed to have originated from the need to determine if the baby is in the correct position for delivery.

The midwife is called upon to examine the expectant mother, to determine if she has reached the 7th month of her pregnancy. The mother-to-be will then be massaged with coconut oil, after which a coconut (with its outer husk removed) would be rolled along the surface of the stomach and allowed to fall to the floor.

Depending on the final position of the coconut, the midwife would be able to tell the gender of the baby.

After this ritual, 7 pieces of cloth or sarung of different colours will be laid on a mattress, one on top of the other. The expectant mother will then be asked to lie on top of the 7 layers of sarung. The midwife grabs hold of the two ends of the topmost sarung and then lifts the sarung and with it the lady’s body, gently rocking the sarung from side to side once or twice. She will then pull the sarung out from under the body of the mother-to-be, and proceed with the next sarung in the pile. It is this rocking from side to side act that gives the lenggang perut ceremony its name. The ceremony is completed once the last layer of sarung has been removed. This last piece of cloth, along with some rice, a complete betel nut set, candles, thread and a small sum of money would be presented to the midwife.

The lenggang perut ceremony is a vanishing custom among Malay/Muslim families in Singapore, who see it as a redundant and contrary to Islamic principles.

COMMENT from "Keramatau", Selangor @ http://www.bicarasufi.com/bsc/viewtopic.php?t=17237:

Syahdunya baca comment dari tuan ini. Macam meringankan apa jua pantang/hukum yg cuba dipertengahkan untuk adat lengang perut ini.
